IN MEMORIAM

" In her novel, Hadrian's Memoirs, Marguerite Yourcenar causes the Roman emperor to write: 'To say that my days are numbered signifies nothing; they always were, and are so for us all.' Whether or not we believe in a predestined way of life little matters; we take confidence in the belief of a watchful care of the supreme One. Therefore, when some of us discover we have fewer days to inhabit this earth, we and our loved ones will accept the fact that what God determines is surely right. And although the loss of a friend be hard on those who remain, they must rejoice in the Christian teaching that the place to which the departed has migrated is far better than anything this world is capable of offering."

As we celebrate the 60th Reunion of the Edgewood High School Class of 1959, let us all remember our friends and classmates who are no longer with us. Close friends to some, acquaintances to others, they were all special. They were part of "us".
